Education

At the Royal New Zealand Ballet, we recognise the benefits that the arts can bring to all sectors of society. We aim to connect communities with dance in general, and ballet in particular.

Now celebrating its 20th year, the Royal New Zealand Ballet Education Programme shares the joy of dance with over 75, 000 New Zealanders annually. Children and adults of all backgrounds and abilities are able to access our activities and performances, and this is reflected in the growth of our programme through initiatives spread across three main strands:

  • For Audiences and Communities
  • For Dance Teachers and Dancers
  • For Schools

Since 2003, this approach has been enhancing the audience experience of RNZB performances, enriching primary and secondary schools’ curricula, supporting dance teachers in their individual practice and professional development, and challenging aspiring young dancers to achieve their goals.

As part of this ongoing commitment in 2023 the RNZB Education, Community and Accessibility programme will continue to innovate, building on the last twenty years so that our programme keeps accessibility and participation at the heart of everything we do.

Join us and attend our performances and events that will excite, instruct and inspire!

Thank you to everyone who has invested in our education, accessibility and community programmes in 2022 – making every day a dance day!
