$30 under 30 tickets are a great way to experience the ballet; pay upfront, then your mystery seats will be revealed on the day of the performance!

This promotion is available across all performances of The Nutcracker during 2025 – seats are limited, and we recommend booking ASAP to secure your spot.

Summer 2025 will be celebrated with an eagerly anticipated new production of the world’s most beloved ballet classic, The Nutcracker. Central to Christmas memories for generations of audiences, The Nutcracker is a timeless celebration of family, fantasy and growing up, where ‘home for Christmas’ is the most powerful magic of all.

A uniquely Kiwi touch transports our audiences to the nostalgia of childhood holidays at the beach in Act I, before being carried in Act II to the snowy Southern Alps, where we encounter a fairytale Kingdom of the Sweets – some of which may look quite familiar…

This new production will be created by RNZB Artistic Director Ty King-Wall, with set and costume designs by Tracy Grant Lord (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Firebird), lighting design by Jon Buswell (Swan Lake, The Firebird, Hansel & Gretel) and visual effects by POW Studios (Cinderella, Hansel & Gretel), all driven by the timeless magic of Tchaikovsky’s wonderful music.

Live orchestra, conducted by Hamish McKeich, will accompany performances in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland.

Touring nationally from 30 October – 20 December.

How do $30 under 30 Tickets Work?

Tickets are available to anyone aged 18 – 30 years old. Simply purchase your tickets online, then our team will seat your booking in the best available seats on the day! $30 under 30 is a great way to experience the ballet at a great price, with savings of between 54-83% compared to standard tickets.

How do I book?

This promotion is only available online. Please click “Book Now” above to secure your tickets.

How many tickets can I purchase?

Tickets are limited to 2 per person. If a customer exceeds this limit, the additional ticket(s) will be cancelled and returned by our team.

How will I receive my tickets?

Tickets are to be collected from the RNZB ticketing table at the theatre from 1 hour prior to the performance. Valid photo ID is required to be shown when collecting tickets.

How will I know where my seats are?

Seating will be allocated on the day of the performance and confirmed at ticket collection.

How long will this promotion be available?

Availability is limited, and the promotion will be available until sold out, or until 11:59pm the day prior to the performance (whichever is sooner).

Booking Fee

Mystery seat bookings will have a one-off, $3 booking fee applied.

By purchasing this product, you agree to opt in for marketing communications from the Royal New Zealand Ballet. You may opt out at any time.

Terms & Conditions

If a customer is found to be ineligible for this promotion, the tickets will be cancelled and any amount refunded. Alternatively, the customer may keep the tickets but will be required to pay the difference between the allocated seat and the $30 paid at time of booking – depending on the seats allocated, this may be between $35 – $150.

This discount cannot be applied retroactively to existing ticket bookings, and seating requests are not able to be accommodated except where stated above.
