This winter we brought the tutus, tiaras and chandeliers to Wellington, Napier and Auckland with the dazzling Russian classic, Paquita. It is a celebration of tradition and technique, with glittering tiaras, fleet footwork, soaring leaps and turns like spinning tops.

Paquita, first staged in 1846, is a scintillating romp in which the dancers’ classical technique takes centre stage. Beloved by ballet stars including Anna Pavlova, Rudolf Nureyev and Natalia Makarova, with sparkling tutus inspired by Russian master jeweller Fabergé and a finale to leave the audience as breathless – and exhilarated – as the dancers themselves.

Listen closely and you may hear the audience at the Aotea Centre gasping with delight: this is Ballet with a capital B and we hope it brings a bit of sparkle to your bubble.

The national tour of The Firebird with Paquita was unfortunately cut short due to Covid restrictions.  Whilst we didn’t originally plan to release Paquita as an online broadcast we have now created a digital production, from live performance footage, for those who may have missed our live performances, or who just want to enjoy Paquita again. It’s a treat!

2. Select the price you wish to pay, we encourage you to pay what you feel but suggest $20.00
3. Fill in your Name and Email address, confirm your email address and press finalise booking
4. Fill in your payment details – credit card or Google pay and press Pay to finalise your booking
5. You will be sent a unique access code and link to the email address you purchased with
6. You will use your unique access code and link to view the broadcast any time between 9am Thursday 9 September – 11.59pm Wednesday 22 September, 2021.
7. Sit back, relax and watch the magic of the Royal New Zealand Ballet in your own home
