Ruby Ryburn

Ruby Ryburn joined the RNZB in 2024 as the Todd Scholar, a position generously sponsored by the Todd Corporation for a graduate of the New Zealand School of Dance. She danced with the company on secondment from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2023 in George Balanchine’s Serenade. Since joining the company, Ruby has danced in Russell Kerr’s Swan Lake as a Cygnet. Ruby was promoted to Artist in 2025.

Ruby grew up in Auckland and begun her early dance training at the Mount Eden Ballet Academy in various styles, including Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Contemporary. She moved to Wellington in 2022 to commence training as a Classical Major at the New Zealand School of Dance. During this time, she was awarded her RAD Solo Seal, the highest level of achievement in the RAD Syllabus.  She also performed as a soloist in BOLD by Goyo Montero, while representing the NZSD in the 2023 Prix De Lausanne Partner-School Project.
