Joshua Douglas
Joshua Douglas was born in Auckland, New Zealand. He started ballet at the age of 12, training at Philippa Campbell School of Ballet. Josh later commenced full-time training in 2022 at the New Zealand School of Dance, graduating at the end of 2023.
Josh had the opportunity to perform Val Caniparoli’s Aria at the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s 70th Anniversary Gala, with other repertoire highlights to date including Loughlan Prior’s Verse and Lew Christensen’s Vivaldi Concerto Grosso. Participating in a student exchange program with Canada’s National Ballet School in 2023 is also among Josh’s highlights.
Josh successfully auditioned for the Jette Parker Young Artist program, and joined Queensland Ballet as a young artist in 2024. While at Queensland Ballet, Josh had the privilege of performing Stephanie Lake’s Colossus at the OHM Festival, Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella as an Ugly Step Sister, Dance Master and Ball Guest, Greg Horsman’s Holburg Suite where he performed as a soloist, Jack Lister’s new creation Papillon, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa’s Coco Chanel; Life of a Fashion Icon and Ben Stevenson’s The Nutcracker.
He joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2025 as a Friedlander Foundation Scholar. In 2026 he was promoted to artist.
