The RNZB will be embarking on

an international tour from October to December 2015 with our landmark production of Giselle and a mixed programme of contemporary works.

The RNZB will be visiting the UK and Italy to perform at major venues in London, Leeds, Edinburgh and Canterbury, followed by Udine, Vicenza and Rome. The RNZB’s debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden will be part of a week in residence at the Linbury Studio.

Repertoire will include Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg’s landmark production of Giselle, and a mixed programme of contemporary works. The acclaimed production of Giselle has garnered rave reviews on the world stage and moved audience members to tears, describing it as one of the best ever seen.

Our mixed programme is named after multi-award winning Javier De Frutos’ The Anatomy of a Passing Cloud. Specially created for RNZB, it is an exploration of Pasifika imagery and movement, and a vibrant celebration of NZ’s unique and joyful culture. Also featured in the programme will be Andonis Foniadakis’ Selon Desir, UK Critics’ Circle nominated Andrew Simmons’ Dear Horizon, and Neil Ieremia’s Passchendaele. Simmons’ and Ieremia’s works have been specially created to mark the centenary of World War One and will make their world premieres as part of the acclaimed RNZB mixed bill programme Salute this year.
