RNZB appoints interim Executive Director

The Royal New Zealand Ballet is pleased to announce the appointment of Celia Walmsley as interim Executive Director.

Celia takes over from former Executive Director Frances Turner who left the RNZB last month and will remain in the role until a permanent appointment is made in early 2019.

Celia has a long history of performing arts management in New Zealand, with roles including CEO and Director of Programming at St James Theatre and the Opera House, Wellington, Director of Auckland’s Tempo Dance Festival, Artistic Director of Erupt Festival in Taupo  and Producer of the PANNZ (Performing Arts Network of New Zealand) Arts Market.

Earlier in her career, Celia worked at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London during the opening season of the complex’s new theatre which featured among all the greats of the ballet world, Pacific Northwest Ballet’s Midsummer Night’s Dreamstarring Patricia Barker as Titania.

Celia is also a professional photographer specialising in dance photography.
