Warm Up, Curtain Up!

Watch from the auditorium as the RNZB dancers warm up on stage in preparation for their evening performance. Led by one of our Artistic Staff, Warm Up, Curtain Up! provides a fantastic opportunity to appreciate the craft and athleticism of ballet separate from costume and storytelling elements added during the performance.

Free admission – no show ticket or registration required.
6.20 – 6.50pm – Arrive in the venue foyer 10 minutes prior to the event’s start time.

Latecomers may not be admitted.

Pre-Performance Talks

Dive into the world of creating a ballet by attending a Pre-Performance Talk. These free events, held prior to select mainstage performances, feature Artistic and Creative staff discussing the process of bringing a ballet performance to life. Learn about the inspiration and experiments that build a show from concept to rehearsal and finally onto stage.

This is a free 30 minute event from 6.30–7pm, no booking is required – simply arrive early on the night.
Pre-Performance talks are held in the foyer-area of each venue:

Wellington: Level 1 foyer, St James Theatre
Auckland: Level 5 Air New Zealand foyer (balcony level), Aotea Centre
Christchurch: Gloucester Room, Isaac Theatre Royal

Post-Matinee Q&A

Discover the people and experiences behind the ballet by attending a Post-Matinee Q&A. A panel of dancers and Artistic Staff are excited to answer any questions you may have following the performance. Unlock behind the scenes facts about the performance, ballet technique and life as a dancer – there’s always something new to learn!

Free admission – simply remain in your seats after the show. The Q&A lasts approximately 10-15 minutes.
