In this role, you will help the education team to provide gateways to the world of dance, by connecting young people and communities with the art form

This role tours with the company, as well as individually, and travels nationally throughout the year to deliver dance workshops and education activities.

Day to day you’ll be responsible for:

  • Delivery of our education programme for schools, dance teachers and dancers, audiences and communities and accessibility programme
  • Assist the Education, Community & Accessibility Manager with school programme bookings and scheduling when required, as well as future planning
  • Interacting with a diverse range of people e.g. Deaf and Blind patrons, children and adults with an intellectual disability, youth at risk etc.
  • Communicating with the people engaging with education activities across all sections of the department

 

Who and what are we looking for?

  • Dance experience and high level of classical and contemporary technique.
  • Multi-facetted dance teaching e.g. in both primary and secondary schools and community settings is required, working with a range of people and abilities
  • A friendly, encouraging and professional manner is essential, with the ability to relate well to a wide range of people e.g. children and teenagers, elderly and disabled individuals
  • Self-starter highly motivated person comfortable working as part of a small team and individually.
  • Empathetic and open-minded nature.
  • Ability to prioritise a busy workload and proven organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • A high standard of spoken and written English.
  • Confident public speaker.
  • New Zealand Driving licence essential.
  • Excellent IT skills, including detailed knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook preferable.
  • A passion for teaching, connecting and engaging with people through dance

Royal New Zealand Ballet are currently seeking a male dancer with strong partnering skills for a company artist (corps de ballet) position for our 2026 season.

Start date 12th January, audition is by invitation only.

To be considered, please email auditions@rnzb.org.nz with your current resume, headshot, 2-3 dance photos (.jpg format) and a link to video footage of a known classical variation, a contemporary work, and partnering/pas de deux work. We are looking for expression of interests from experienced Mechanist and Fly Persons for various projects in 2025 both in Wellington and for the national tours. Experience in pack ins and pack outs, Rigging, set building, operation of the flying system, People who can work in a team or under their own initiative, good communication skills, good health and safety knowledge in a theatrical environment and understanding and implementing safe working practices.
