RNZB resources are designed to enhance your experience of our performances and workshops. While they are primarily designed with teachers in mind, following closely the requirements for NCEA, they are also of interest to anyone wanting to know more about how and why works are created, their historical context and production details such as staging and costuming. The resources are filled with dance activities and some wonderful insider secrets!

What is Ballet? DVD Resource – $25 A dance education DVD for schools. Former RNZB company dancer, Shannon Dawson works with students at Maidstone Intermediate School in a series of lessons covering some of the basics of ballet: foot and arm positions, plies, balances, lifts, etc. He also teaches some of the RNZB’s repertoire, including excerpts from Peter Pan and La Sylphide. Students are then guided into their own dance, making use of the material Shannon has taught them.
