Kim Acland, Acting Executive Director
In a career spanning 30 years, Kim has worked in the cultural, creative arts and funding sectors for more than two decades. She specialises in cultural organisational development and management, programme policy and development. Kim previously served as RNZB Interim Executive Director in 2015-16.
Kim has worked in New Zealand as a Senior Associate with AEA Consulting working with the Three Lakes Cultural Trust in Queenstown District on a Cultural Plan, and independently as a grants assessor with with Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa. Kim delivered a strategic and organisational review for New Zealand Dance Company, and advised on the Auckland Theatre Company’s opening of the ASB Waterfront Theatre.
Internationally Kim’s recent projects include producing for the Mark Baldwin Dance Company in the UK, consulting on projects in Saudi Arabia for the Ministry of Culture, including the development of a strategy for the Janadriyah Cultural Quarter in Riyadh, as well as a feasibility study for the Events Investment Fund for a multipurpose theatre complex in Jeddah. In 2016 Kim worked with Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Culture Centre in Kuwait advising on and delivering their operational and programme policies. Prior to all this Kim, as General Manager, worked at Riverside Studios and Assembly Festival in London and Edinburgh, delivering a quarter of the curated programming of the Edinburgh Fringe, for over a decade.
Kim will hold the position with the RNZB for three months, to the beginning of April 2023.
