Matthew Slattery recently joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet as an Artist in April 2022.
Matthew was born in 1990 in Australia, in a small country town called Cooma in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales. It was here that he started his dance training at Rosie O’Sullivan’s School of Dance. At the age of sixteen, he moved to Sydney to join the Talent Development High School and went on to complete the Brent Street full-time ballet and contemporary course under Christine Keith. In 2009, he travelled to New York City to join the Joffrey Ballet School. In the two years he was with the school, he performed throughout New York and toured with the Joffrey Studio Company. In June 2012, Matthew joined the RNZB.
Some highlights of Matthew’s career include performing works by Robert Joffrey, Balanchine, Gerald Arpino and working with the Boston Ballet Company.
