Georgia Baxter joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet in August 2019 as an apprentice and was promoted to company Artist at the end of the 2020 season. A recent highlight for Georgia was performing as Step-sister Nicolette in Loughlan Prior’s Cinderella (2022) and Moth in Liam Scarlett’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2021).

Since joining RNZB, Georgia has performed in George Balanchine’s Serenade, William Forsythe’s Artifact II and Loughlan Prior’s Hansel and Gretel. In 2020, she performed an array of roles in The Sleeping Beauty, including Little Red Riding Hood and the Fairy of Joy. In the 2021 season of Tutus on Tour, Georgia further demonstrated her versatility through classical and contemporary works, performing Pas de Quatre, Sarah Foster-Sproull’s Ultra Folly, Mário Radačovský’s Romeo and Juliet balcony pas de deux and Andrea Schermoly’s Within Without. She also performed in The Autumn Ball, a work choreographed by Sarah Foster-Sproull for the Wanaka Festival of Colour. Furthermore, Georgia has danced corps de ballet roles in Paquita, Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg’s Giselle and Loughlan Prior’s The Firebird. In 2022, Georgia danced in Shaun James Kelly’s The Ground Beneath Our Feet, Waltz of the Pohutukawa Flowers from Val Caniparoli’s The Nutcracker, Olivier Wevers’ The Sofa, Alice Topp’s Aurum, Sarah Foster-Sproull’s The Autumn Ball and Twyla Tharp’s Waterbaby Bagatelles™.

Born in Australia, Georgia grew up in Caloundra, Queensland where she trained at En Pointe Dance Centre from the age of eleven, after starting dance lessons at the age of four. At fourteen, she was accepted into the prestigious Houston Ballet Academy’s Professional Training Division programme, where she trained for three years. In 2018, she was one of two HBA dancers selected to travel to Switzerland to represent the Academy in the inaugural Prix de Lausanne Partner Schools Choreographic Project. She also performed with Houston Ballet in Stanton Welch’s The Nutcracker and Ben Stevenson’s Coppélia and toured with the Company to Dubai for Stanton Welch’s Swan Lake.
