Ana Gallardo Lobaina was born in Holguín, Cuba, where she attended a regional ballet school; from age 14 she studied full time at the Cuban National Ballet School in Havana. Between 2009 and 2012 Ana trained at Miami City Ballet School on a full scholarship and Boston Ballet School, joining Cincinnati Ballet as a Second Company member in 2012. In 2013 she was promoted to full company member. Her most memorable roles while at CBC include Cylindrical Shadows and Eros Redux by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Olympe in Val Caniparoli’s Lady of the Camellias and Minus 16 by Ohad Naharin in addition to works by Justin Peck, Edwaard Liang and Septime Webre.

In 2017 she joined West Australian Ballet, her highlights there include Solo Shades from La Bayadère by Greg Horsman, Daisy in David Nixon’s The Great Gatsby and X-it by Finnish choreographer Johanna Nuutinen.

Ana joined the RNZB in January 2020 and was promoted to Soloist in December 2020. Her roles to date with the company include the Lilac Fairy, Carabosse and the Generosity Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, Artemis Rising and creating a role in Ultra Folly, the last two both works by Choreographer in Residence Sarah Foster-Sproull.
