Te Topatopa Anuanu – The Ugly Duckling

To celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language week – September 13 – 19)  watch Te Topatopa Anuanu (The Ugly Duckling), with narration in Te Reo, for free. A playful re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen’s well-known fairytale with a distinctly New Zealand twist, the production features an all-male cast and touches on the complex issues of growing up, fitting in and finding your flock.

Narrated by Gareth Tiopira-Waaka (Te Arawa, Ngãti Pikiao, Ngai Túwharetoa)

Gareth graduated from Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School with a Bachelor of Performing Arts in 2004. He currently provides actor services and artistic input to several different organisations throughout the Wellington region including the Royal NZ College of General Practitioners, New Zealand Police College, and the KidzStuff Theatre for Children. Gareth also works in staff support as a special needs Kaiãwhina at Te Kura Māori o Porirua.
