Technical Information for Venues

Following are the Royal New Zealand Ballet’s minimum technical requirements:

Sound
Dependent on repertoire. Contact the Production Department for further information.

Lighting
Dependent on repertoire. Contact the Production Department for further information.

Wardrobe area
A fully fitted area, including washing machines and dryers and hot and cold water supply.

Dressing rooms
To accommodate 37 dancers and 10 staff with shower facilities.

Heating
All backstage areas including stage house to a minimum of 23 degrees Celsius.

Freight
Dependent on repertoire. Contact the Production Department for further information.

The following requirements are all negotiable depending on the production:

Stage
Proscenium opening – 12 metres
Setting line to furthest upstage batten – 12 metres
Setting line to upstage wall – 14 metres
Stage width including wings – 22 metres
Width between fly floors – 18 metres
Stage to grid height – 18 metres

Flying system
A minimum of 40 counter-weight lines

Stage surface
A sprung wooden floor
