What is Ballet? DVD Resource – $25 The Royal New Zealand Ballet has created a new dance education DVD for schools. Former company dancer, Shannon Dawson works with a group of students at Maidstone Intermediate School over a series of lessons. Shannon teaches some of the basics of ballet: foot and arm positions, plies, balances, lifts, etc. He also teaches some of the RNZB’s repertoire, including excerpts from Peter Pan and La Sylphide. Students are then guided into their own dance, making use of the material Shannon has taught them.
