Yuri Marques joined the Royal New Zealand Ballet in 2017. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Yuri started his training aged nine with Spinelli Escola de Dança, and in 2014 accepted a full scholarship to the New Zealand School of Dance. In 2017 Yuri was featured in the RNZB’s Tutus on Tour regional touring performances, dancing lead roles in the Le Corsaire pas de deux and the Act III pas de deux from The Sleeping Beauty. His repertoire includes Roland Petit’s Carmen and L’Arlésienne, Alexander Ekman’s Episode 31 and Francesco Ventriglia’s Romeo and Juliet.
