Jacob Chown

Jacob Chown graduated from the Australian Ballet School. A former Western Australia state trampoline champion, he began his career with the RNZB in 2006. In his first decade with the RNZB, Jacob has performed leading roles in both classical and contemporary repertoire, including Basilio in Don Quixote (2015), the pas de trois in Swan Lake (2013), Hilarion in Giselle (2012) – a role which he has repeated on the RNZB’s tours to China, the USA, the UK and Italy, the New Zealand revival tour of 2016, and captured in Toa Fraser’s 2013 feature film – as well as works by Balanchine, Neil Ieremia, Johan Kobborg, Larry Keigwin, David Dawson and many more. 2016 saw Jake take on demanding roles in William Forsythe’s In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated, Andonis Foniadakis’s Selon désir and Alexander Ekman’s Cacti, as well as the loveable Lion in Francesco Ventriglia’s The Wizard of Oz and one of the Rustics in Liam Scarlett’s  A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
