Georgia Powley

Georgia Powley was born in Canberra and started dancing at the age of four at the Canberra Dance Development Centre. After studying there for 12 years, Georgia joined the New Zealand School of Dance. In 2015, Georgia was an exchange student at Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto and also took part in the Alana Haines Australasian Awards. Georgia joined the RNZB in 2016 as the Todd Scholar and during her first year with the company danced roles in: Andonis Foniadakis’ Selon désir and Alexander Ekman’s Cacti as part of RNZB’s acclaimed Speed of Light, Glinda, Witch of the North and a Tea Cup in the Porcelain World of Francesco Ventriglia’s The Wizard of Oz; a Willis in the NZ restaging of Ethan Stiefel and Johan Kobborg’s Giselle and one of the Fairies in Liam Scarlett’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream during both the Hong Kong and Wellington seasons.

2017 saw Georgia feature in Tuplet by Alexander Ekman as well as performing in Episode 31 and Cacti in the Three By Ekman triple bill. She performed in both Carmen and L’Arlesienne by Roland Petit and danced a number of roles in Romeo and Juliet by Francesco Ventriglia.
