Katherine Minor was born in France but grew up in Portland, Oregon, USA, completing her training at the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre, under Damara Bennett. She spent one year training at the Paris Opera Ballet School when she was twelve and the following year attended a summer programme at The School of American Ballet on scholarship.
In 2010, Katherine became an apprentice at Oregon Ballet Theatre where she had the opportunity to dance in company productions of George Balanchine’s The Four Temperaments, Emeralds and The Nutcracker and Christopher Stowell’s The Sleeping Beauty. The next year Katherine joined her first company, Joffrey Ballet in Chicago, dancing roles including Cupid in Yuri Possokov’s Don Quixote, Clara in Gerald Arpino’s The Nutcracker, and among other ballets danced in the corps de ballet for Nijinsky’s Rite of Spring, and Kurt Joos’ The Green Table. In 2013, Katherine moved to the UK to dance with Northern Ballet, touring all over the country with productions of Massimo Moricone’s A Christmas Carol, and David Nixon’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cleopatra and Cinderella.
Katherine joined the RNZB in 2014. Since joining she has danced in George Balanchine’s Allegro brillante, Daniel Belton’s Satellites, Don Quixote, Salute and Dear Horizon. She created the role of Peaseblossom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
